SEREMBAN: Nearly two weeks after the death in police custody of a jail, a 43-year-old man died in the lock at Tampin police station yesterday afternoon.
He knows that P. Nithi Karuna was found unconscious by police on duty around 6.30 pm. Police called for an ambulance from the Tampin Hospital, but paramedics called Karuna dead when they arrived on the scene.
Karuna was arrested by police on Monday after he allegedly beat his wife in the head with a helmet at Goodwill Park, Gemenceh.
He was charged in the Magistrate's Court on Friday Tampin under Section 324 of the Penal Code for causing hurt by dangerous means.
He should be sent to prison Sungai Udang in Malacca on remand the same day he was charged in court, but the order was postponed until Monday.
